No. 02

Hello everyone,

It’s been just over 2 months since we wrote our first MBS newsletter to you in late May. Between then and now, we’ve been very busy with the MBS proposal groundwork which included consulting with a number of major stakeholders.

We were also fortunate to have our Environment Minister Stephen Dawson MLC visit Alfred Cove on Sunday 26 July along with our Member for Bicton, Lisa O’Malley MLA and see at first-hand what a beautiful area it is for a bird sanctuary.

We have now written to the City of Melville putting the case for a Melville Bird Sanctuary to extend from the Crown Land at Tompkins Park to Quarantine Park in Bicton (please refer to the proposed boundary map). We have copied in the Mayor, councillors, stakeholders we consulted and Lisa O’Malley who has been a great help to us.

Please read our letter and its attachments at this link to our blog to get the full picture. We will continue to keep you posted of developments.

Please show your support for the Melville Bird Sanctuary by forwarding this email to your family and friends. Please also give a ‘Like’ to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/melvillebirdsanctuaryanddiscoverycentre/  and check the page from time to time for informative posts as well as photos of birds of the area.

Kind regards,

Tom Lubin and Jenny Christenson
Friends of the Melville Bird Sanctuary
